Descendant

The Serbian medieval ruling family of Kosaca ruled the area of the upper Podrinje and the whole of Herzegovina. During her reign and after that, she left a deep historical mark in medieval Europe. Historians have long wrongly claimed that the Kosaca family died out, that is, disappeared in female descendants due to a change of surname. My name is Ivan Vukovic and I am a descendant of the Vukovic Kosaca family.

The historical unknown was the branch of the Vukovic Kosaca family represented by the Serbian prince Ivan Vukovic Kosaca (brother of the uncle of the Duke of St. Sava Stefan Vukcic Kosaca) and succeeded by the Serbian prince Adam Vukovic Kosaca. The intention of this site is to shed light on the fate of that branch of the Vukovici Kosaca family. Reading untruths about the Kosaca family related to their religion, culture and events related to them, I embarked on this project of research and development of a website with the desire to hear and shed light on the truth. The Kosaca family left a deep historical mark on the Balkans and Europe, not only through wars and conquests, but also through culture and religion. By building monasteries, churches, endowments, writing books, they followed the path of spirituality that the first Serbian archbishop, Saint Sava, went through before them.

After the untruths that the Kosaca family was extinguished and disappeared in female descendants who did not inherit the surnames of their ancestors, I present accurate and proven information that the Vukovici Kosaca family branch was located near the Drina River in the village of Vladikovi, some 5.5 kilometers by air from the town of Foca. the village of Josanica. The village of Valdikovi is some 9.3 kilometers as the crow flies from the village of Kosace (home of the Kosaca family). From that example, it can be seen that the Kosaca family never separated from the Drina River, to which it is destined. That rule remains valid to this day..

My name is Ivan Vukovic. I was born in the city of Uzice (Republic of Serbia) in 1975. I enrolled in and finished primary school (OS Vuk Karadzic) in Ustikolina (SR Bosnia and Herzegovina), where I lived with my family until the beginning of the civil war. I attended high school in Gorazde until the beginning of the war. After that, I continued my education in Belgrade. I finished high school there and enrolled in college. I graduated and became an engineer. I am married and have two children. I started my professional engineering career in a Belgrade company. After that, I moved to the United States, where I continued my career. I have a degree in information systems engineering and currently work in an American factory as an engineer for the maintenance of the company’s server and information system. The company is headquartered in Chicago (USA), where I currently live.

My father Vasika Vukovic was born in the village of Vladikovi, where the Vukovic Kosaca family took refuge with the Serbian prince Vuk Vukovic Kosaca. The prince formed the so-called The “Old House” from which my father came. Having sheltered their family for sure, the Vukovics withdrew from public life and formed their own small autonomy in that poor but proud village. During the reign of the three occupiers (Turkish invaders, Austro-Hungarian invaders and communist invaders), the Vukovic Kosaca family lived very poor and meager. Denied of education and development and at the same time distrustful of the occupiers, they lived in seclusion in their small autonomous system. Each entry into the village of Vladikove was presented as one small entry into history. Today, several people live in the village, mostly the elderly population. Descendants have moved around the world, including me. We are all proud of our origins and ancestors.

Motivated by the desire to shed light on the history of my family Vukovic Kosace, I started this project and after a lot of research work, I collected a lot of material that I presented on the website in a form that allows web technologies. I received great support from my family and parent company. The understanding, support and even the research work I received from my family makes me immensely happy and grateful.

When we talk from the stable male line of the Kosaca family, from the ancestor of the Serbian duke Vuk Kosaca (who received the title of Serbian duke at the court of Serbian Emperor Dusan the Strong) to my son Filip Vukovic, we can freely say that after great historical dangers and challenges appeared in the form of aggressors (Turkish invaders, Austro-Hungarian invaders, communist invaders), preserved stable male line of the genus Vukovic Kosace. It is also preserved by my brother and his son Marko Vukovic. That stable male line of the Vukovic Kosaca family can also be seen in several of my Vukovic cousins who also have sons. After everything that has been written, I can freely say that I am of princely blood and that I bear the right and obligation of legality and legitimacy of the Vukovic Kosaca family.

After the formation of the Republika Srpska, freedom came and Herzegovina returned to its original values. This is especially true for eastern Herzegovina. The Serbian people are breathing freely again, celebrating and nurturing their historically rich culture.
